Our eyes are only sensitive to a narrow range of wavelengths, which we call VISIBLE LIGHT. Yet visible light is only a tiny part of all the wavelengths that exist (collectively called electromagnetic radiation). Mars, at 70 °F, radiates mostly at 10 m, more than 10 times longer than wavelengths we can see.

So what our eyes detect from Mars is reflected sunlight.
